Swim

It's a great time to be a Stratford Shark!

Swim Team

The Stratford Recreation Association (SRA) is a member of the Northern Virginia Swim League (NVSL).  Part of NVSL’s (and SRA’s) purpose is “to develop a love for the sport, advanced aquatic skills, teamwork, and the principles of good sportsmanship.”  The Swim Team is open to all SRA children ages 5 and up who can comfortably and safely swim across the 25-meter pool.   Community swimming is a team sport and SRA needs all swimmers on deck to achieve a team with depth, continuity, and spirit.  SRA fields both “A” and “B” teams —there’s a place for everyone!  The swim team practices Monday - Friday from 8:00 am - 10:00 am based on age group.

Swim Lessons

Private Lessons allow for personal instruction with a certified guard who will instruct one individual for a 30-minute block of time mutually agreed upon by the instructor and member. Lessons cannot be offered outside of normal operating hours or during Sunday Adult Swim (11 am - 1 pm). Cost is $30 and paid directly to instructore.  Please pick up a contact sheet from the front office when the season begins.

Sharks in Training (pre-compete) swim program bridges the gap between swim lessons and swim team. It is designed to introduce children to the sport of competitive swimming in a non-competitive environment.  Participants receive instruction in the competitive strokes (freestyle and backstroke as a primary focus) and instruction on racing starts. This is a great opportunity to receive small group instruction from experienced swim coaches.
