The SRA pool is committed to hiring trained and professional staff from our local community. Many of our lifeguards have grown up swimming at the pool! All staff maintain current certifications and are required to participate in an in-service training activity before the season begins.
ARC Lifeguard Training
SRA annually hosts American Red Cross Lifeguard Training course prior to the opening of the season. Cost is $339 and form can be found: Lifeguard Training Course. The course fee will be reimbursed by SRA if the course is completed and the student works one full season at the pool as a lifeguard.
Certified Pool Operators (CPO) Prep Course
Current lifeguards who are at least 16 years old and wish to be certified as a pool operator may attend a prep course and pass the test held at SRA during our annual training weekend. Cost is $155 and the registration form can be found: Certified Pool Operator Prep Course.
Junior Guard Program
The Junior Guard Program for 13- and 14-year-olds is designed to teach the skills needed to be a full-time guard. The program is divided into 12 lessons on Sundays over four weeks, with one week used for make-up sessions and preparation for a final examination. Upon completion, students will receive an SRA Water Safety Certificate and may be considered for a full-time position as a guard for the next season.
